I have been hypnotized and uplifted by Dr Alderete’s new book “TIKE’A” as I have always admired his bold art and colors and his mix of contemporary and primitive imagery which is simultanously simple and complex this book being the result of an exhibition he held on Rapa Nui where it was much appreciated, in which he not only portrayed important personalities in Rapa Nui history but also the people that live there today, on one of the most isolated rocks on this earth. He also rendered the culture of the surrounding islands and (which I love) shows his collection of sources that inspired his fantastic eye candy art, pages and pages of book covers and comic art that this here “visual junkie” can never get enough of!
