QUINCE EKEKOS / HISTORIETAS E ILUSTRACIONES EN TORNO A LA NOVELA: GUERRILLEROS, UNA SALIDA AL MAR PARA BOLIVIA

Año 1984. En las sierras, un grupo de adolescentes pasa a la clandestinidad. Todos tienen una pila implantada en el cerebro y están conectados a una maquinaria capaz de elaborar y reproducir la primera Matriz del Guerrillero Perfecto. Con esa tecnología confían en desatar la revolución continental y asegurar la llegada del hombre nuevo. En la ciudad, dos corporaciones rivales, Bonzai Animales S.A. y Fantasías Entrañables, avanzan en sus respectivos proyectos: reducir a un tercio de su tamaño a toda la población y convertir los excrementos en ricas y nutritivas golosinas. Dos salidas en pugna para una Bolivia imaginaria y caliente que añora el sonido del mar. Mientras tanto, en la maraña del monte, bajo bombardeos de cocaína, alguien escribe yo. Le dicen Che.

Escrita en 1986 por Ruben Mira, publicada por primera vez 1994, Guerrilleros (una salida al mar para Bolivia) es una novela de culto y uno de los textos mas extraños de la literatura argentina de los últimos tiempos.
Hoy se transforma en una exposición con las participaciones entre otros de Sergio Langer, Elenio Pico, José Cuneo, Pablo Paez, Pablo Cabrera, Jorge Alderete entre otras figuras del estrellato historietil y amigos generosos (sic) del autor...

When the Apes met... se trata de un homenaje al Planeta de los Simios en forma de exposición colectiva donde participan entre otros Ed Carosia, Juan Roller, Alejandra Acosta, Ben Newman, Ceci Meade, Blanca Gómez, Marie Meier, Puño, Pintachan, y un largo etc. Está organizada en Bilbao por los amigos de Frigo Fingers y Vudumedia.
La exposisión empezará en la libreria Jocker de Bilbao, para ir itinerando por distintas galerías alrededor del mundo... Catálogo incluido!!

When the Apes met... it is an homage to Planet of the Apes as a group exhibition with participation of Ed Carosia, Juan Roller, Alejandra Acosta, Ben Newman, Ceci Meade, Blanca Gómez, Marie Meier, Puño, Pintachan, and many others. Nunca escuche demasiado a Cornelius, pero esta portada quedó grabada en mi retina... (por cierto, si alguien sabe quien es el diseñador agradeceré el dato)

My collaboration for the exhibition is called "When the apes met 90's experimental music" and basicly is a remake of the 1997 Fantasma album by Cornelius. I never listen Cornelius too much but this cover art remained in my retin for a long time. (BTW if someone knows the name of the designer please let me know!!)

Draw es una exhibición compuesta por dibujos de más de 500 artistas de la ilustración, graffiti, tatuaje, literatura, diseño, animación, música, cultura popular, psicodelia y otras disciplinas. DRAW se plantea como un tributo al bloque visual del arte gráfico construido a través del dibujo. La exposición, curada por Erick Foss y Curse Mackey se presentará en el Museo de la Ciudad de México.

Draw is the largest contemporary drawing exhibition to emerge out of New York City. The show is a tribute to the often-underrated but fundamental building block of visual and graphic art: the drawing.

The first days of April begins the 2010 edition of Aix en Provence's Comics Festival in southern France. In this occasion I had the pleasure of developing the entire graphic for the festival, and the way to pay tribute to one of the most important artists of the twentieth century that settled in the city and where his foundation is now: Victor Vasarely, the father of Op art.

En esta ocación especial y con motivo del cierre de la primera etapa del proyecto Taller en Vida nos acompañara el Dr. Alderete imprimiendo su nueva serie de serigrafias, que incluyen una especial de visión 3D.
También nos acompañará Joe Volume con un show acústico a las 16:00 hs.!

El proyecto Taller en Vida, es una iniciativa del maestro Arturo Negrete y su taller Color 75º. La idea principal es promover la producción y adquisición de obra gráfica de diferentes autores. El espacio donde se desarrollará este evento, es el mismo taller de impresión; lugar con una larga historia donde el maestro Arturo ha plasmado las obras de importantes cartelistas tanto mexicanos como extranjeros. Siendo una parte muy importante de la historia gráfica de México. Para este evento se ha invitado a un grupo muy selecto de artistas, diseñadores e ilustradores; que son reconocidos por su trabajo diario en sus diferentes disciplinas.
La entrada al evento no tiene costo alguno. Podrán adquirir, solo en este espacio, obras inéditas que han realizado los artistas invitados al evento (Mr. Kone, Chema Skandall, Zoveck, Seher One, Bruno Horst y Dr. Alderete)

Festival internacional de Diseño y Cultura Visual Contemporánea

La semana que viene estaré viajando a Chile donde fui invitado por la gente de Latin Lover a dar una conferencia, y presentar el libro Yo soy un Don Nadie con una exposición en el Centro Cultural de España de Santiago. LatinLover es un evento de carácter internacional que convoca, explora y difunde los nuevos rumbos del diseño gráfico y la cultura visual contemporánea global-local. Entre sus actividades se cuentan exposiciones, conferencias, feria y lanzamientos.

Next week I'll be traveling to Chile invited by the people of Latin Lover for a lecture, an exhibition and book presentation in Cultural Center of Spain, in Santiago. LatinLover is an international event that summons, explores and spreads the new trends of graphic design and contemporary local/global visual culture. Among its activities are exhibitions, conferences and launchings.

NO UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE BRAIN AND THE HANDS

"No Understanding..." es una exposición en colaboración entre los fotógrafos e ilustradores de Pocko. Inspirados en Metropolis, la película muda de ciencia ficción del director Fritz Lang de 1927, cinco fotógrafos colaboran con nueve ilustradores para crear interpretaciones de la película.

No understanding between the brain and the hands is a collaboration between Pocko photographers and illustrators. Inspired by Metropolis, the 1927 silent science fiction film created by the famed director Fritz Lang, five of Pocko's photographers have collaborated with nine different designers to create interpretations of the film.

Illustrators: Hennie Haworth, Ben Newman, Adam Hayes, Nomoco, Paul Bower, Jorge Alderete, Staffan Larsson, James Dawe, Kinpro, Joey Hi-Fi, Tabas, Postics, Masha Rumyantseva.

Gold is an exhibition inspired by Jimmy Pantera's book Los Tigres del Ring dedicated to mexican wrestling, la lucha libre. For the first time in Belgium an exhibition celebrates the kitsch of that Mexican flamboyant show.

Un libro y una exposición que ponen de manifiesto, una vez más que el hágalo usted mismo, es un opción válida.

I am a Nobody
is the result of many, many rock and beer filled nights. Thus, another one of Dr. Alderete’s projects is born, music fan and a magnet to all nocturnal characters. A book of portraits and much more than just portraits. Of people, of friends… of the regulars, and those you only sometimes meet.
A book and a show that manifest once again that the DIY is a valid option.

Plan B presents his second proposal: Chisus created by Bala Studio.
This vinyl toy aims to be the canvas on which translate the diverse views that reflect and define the concerns of a contemporary Western society.

Despues de casi 3 años sin estar por el sur, estuvimos visitando a la familia y a los amigos, muchos reencuentros entre ellos con Marcelo Gabriele ahora titular de una de las cátedras de diseño de la FADU - Universidad de Buenos Aires donde aprovechamos la visita para dar una charla a sus alumnos.

I recently arrived from a visit to Argentina. After almost 3 years without no going to the south, we were visiting to the family and friends, too many reunions among them with Marcelo Gabriele who is now the teacher-in-chief of one of the Design classes at the University of Buenos Aires and we take this oportunity to give a lecture to his students.

La pasión y la iniciativa de dos amantes de los juguetes se conjugaron para dar lugar a la creación de la primera productora de juguetes de vinyl mexicanos. Andrés Amaya, diseñador industrial y el Dr. Alderete, diseñador e ilustrador, lanzan este mes de julio Plan B.

Cuando muchos sueñan con sus diseños producidos en el exterior, estos dos diseñadores apuestan por la producción local. Plan B, diseña, produce y maquila en México. Sabían desde un comienzo que las cosas no serían fáciles. Encontrar quien garantizara calidad, tiempo y compromiso, resolver todos los contratiempos que la producción requiere, sobre todo pensando en algo que ya casi no se produce en el país, juguetes. Convencer a los pequeños fabricantes de que es posible, de que hay un mercado y entusiasmarlos tanto como ellos mismos. De pruebas y errores, de reuniones interminables, de dolores de cabezas y de un entusiasmo casi infantil es que Plan B ve la luz después de muchos meses de trabajo.

Con alma y corazón argen-mex, este proyecto comienza a ver la luz en julio de 2007 con el lanzamiento de su primer juguete, Perro Muerto, diseñado por el Dr. Alderete, al que le seguirá la serie de Cristos y Santos de Andrés Amaya los cuales reflejan la vida en México y rescatan elementos culturales como la muerte y la religión, alejados de las tendencias estereotípicas y con diseños completamente personales.

Con la firme convicción de que todos los sueños son posibles y sabiendo que cuando las cosas no salen a la primera siempre hay que tener a la mano un plan B, nace la primera productora de juguetes de vinyl 100% mexicanos.

The passion and initiative of two guys who love toys made them join up to create the first Mexican vinyl toy production company. Industrial designer Andrés Amaya and, illustrator / designer Dr. Alderete, launch Plan B this July.

In a time when many dream of producing their toys abroad, these designers lay their bets on local production. Plan B, design, produce and manufacture in Mexico. They knew form a start that things would not be asy. Finding people who would guarantee quality, time and compromise; solving all the draw backs that production involve in a craft that is rarer in this country day by day; convincing small producer that this is possible and that ther is a market for it out there, almost making them as excited about the idea as the consumers. Many, many sessions of trial and error, unending, headaches, and an almost infantile enthusiasm, Plan B sees the light of day after several months of hard work.

With Argenti-Mexican heart and soul, this proyect takes off on July, with the launch of its first toy, Dead Dog (PerroMuerto), designed by Dr. Alderete, followed by Cristos & Santos by Andrés Amaya reflecting life in Mexico and salvaging cultural elements such as religion and death, setting them appart from stereotyes and with 100% personal designs.

With the firm conviction that all dreams are possible, and knowing that if you fail once you can always try Plan B, the first 100% mexican vinyl production company is born.
